If you thought Bollywood song launches were getting a bit too predictable, think again.
Yo Yo Honey Singh, the man known for turning every beat into a party anthem, took things up a notch—actually, several knots—by launching his latest track Money Money on the high seas. Yes, you read that right. The much-anticipated dance number from Raid 2 was unveiled aboard a swanky RoRo Ferry sailing between Mumbai’s Ferry Wharf and Mandwa Jetty near Alibag.
High Tides and High Energy
Picture this: A yacht swaying to the rhythm of the Arabian Sea, an orange-hued sunset as your backdrop, flashing lights, pulsating beats, and guests grooving to Honey Singh’s signature vibe. It wasn’t just a song launch; it was a full-blown sundowner event, orchestrated by T-Series Films and Panorama Studios. Media folks, influencers, models, and a few familiar celeb faces gathered for this unforgettable sail-away party that blurred the line between music launch and mini-cruise fest.
As the ferry cruised through the evening waves, two songs were showcased—Money Money, the new banger choreographed by Rajit Dev, and Nasha, which had dropped earlier. The vibe was energetic, bordering on electric, as attendees sipped cocktails and soaked in the view while nodding along to the infectious tracks.
Honey Singh in Full Form
Yo Yo Honey Singh, ever the showman, wasn’t content with simply dropping a track. Dressed in his inimitable style, the rapper-singer-composer took to the mini-stage and brought the vibe alive. From hyping up the crowd to dancing with an unsuspecting young journalist—who happened to be a Sardar and handled the spotlight like a pro—Singh made sure the event stayed on brand: bold, fun, and full of flair.
He shared some candid moments too. Reminiscing about his first film song Lungi Dance from Chennai Express over a decade ago, Singh got nostalgic about his journey with T-Series and Bhushan Kumar. He also recalled working with Ajay Devgn for the first time—being four hours late, no less—but receiving nothing but kindness and professionalism from the veteran actor. He called Devgn one of his all-time favorites, and confessed that Money Money was born during a creative burst in Delhi.
A Glimpse into Raid 2
While Money Money brought the glam and glitter, the event was also an opportunity to tease Raid 2, the sequel to the 2018 hit that saw Ajay Devgn portray a no-nonsense Income Tax officer. This time, Devgn returns to the role, joined by Vaani Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh—who steps in as the film’s antagonist. Fans of the first film will be happy to see Saurabh Shukla reprise his role, and Jacqueline Fernandez and Tamannaah Bhatia are expected to add some glam factor with special appearances in songs.
Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak revealed some fun tidbits about Devgn’s on-screen preferences—particularly his well-known reluctance toward dancing, even though he’s always game for a good playback track. That made Money Money all the more exciting to choreograph. Rajit Dev, the man behind the song’s moves, said the track was “a banger” and an easy one to design steps for, thanks to its foot-tapping beat.
The film’s main music composer is Amit Trivedi, who brings a different flavor to the soundtrack. But Honey Singh’s contribution is clearly the party anthem of the album—the kind of song that plays on loop in clubs, cars, and wedding sangeets alike.
Glitz, Glam, and a Bit of Drama
Bhushan Kumar, the driving force behind T-Series, emphasized that Raid 2 wasn’t built around music, but rather incorporated songs naturally into the storyline. No filler tracks—just mood-driven music to enhance the narrative.
Also spotted at the ferry event were key people from the Raid 2 team: director Raj Kumar Gupta, co-producer Shiv Chanana, director Abhishek Pathak (of Drishyam 2 fame), and music video director Mihir Gulati. The mood remained upbeat until the return leg of the trip, when media attendees realized that the much-promised “informal conversations with the talent” weren’t happening—main cast and crew had zipped away on speedboats at Mandwa Jetty, leaving behind some slightly disgruntled journos.
Still, with drinks, dinner, and a danceable soundtrack playing across the deck, no one stayed salty for long.
Looking Ahead
Raid 2 promises to build on the original’s intensity while turning up the style and spectacle. With a star-studded cast, a seasoned director in Raj Kumar Gupta, and a blend of serious storytelling and chart-topping music, the film is poised to make a splash. And if Money Money is any indication, it’ll do so with plenty of swagger.
